The evidence is in. The case has been made. Across hundreds of pages in We Are The Bad Guys, we have documented the machinery of American empire: the propaganda that blinds us, the economic weapons that enslave nations, the military interventions that destroy lives, and the ideological forces that drive it all forward. The question that remains is not whether America has been the villain in countless stories across the globe—the record speaks for itself. The question is what comes next.

Every empire in history has faced this moment: the recognition that its power is finite, its methods unsustainable, and its legitimacy crumbling. Rome fell to barbarian invasions after centuries of overextension. Britain retreated from empire after two world wars bankrupted its treasury. The Soviet Union collapsed under the weight of its own contradictions and military quagmires. Spain’s gold ran out, and with it, its global dominance.

America now stands at that same crossroads, though most Americans remain oblivious to the choice before them. The national debt approaches $34 trillion. Military commitments span the globe while infrastructure crumbles at home. Trust in institutions has eroded to historic lows. International coalitions increasingly exclude or oppose American leadership. The tools of empire, economic coercion, military intervention, propaganda—are losing their effectiveness as the world builds alternatives to American systems.

Can Americans confront the truth about their nation’s actions and choose a different path? Can the republic be saved from the empire that has consumed it? Or will America follow the predictable trajectory of every empire before it, clinging to power until that power destroys both the nation and its people?

The future is not predetermined, but it is rapidly approaching. And the choice—however uncomfortable, however difficult—remains ours to make.  One thing is certain–either we choose to change or change will be forced upon us.
